Just a little update

Firstly, I want to welcome my new readers! Thank you so much for following my blog :)

Allereerst wil ik mijn nieuwe volger welkom heten! Bedankt voor het volgen van mijn blog :)

Last week I got my wisdom tooth removed by a surgeon dentist. I had a lot of pain the days after the removal. I got a prescription for painkillers, but they make me very drowsy. So no sewing for me :( Hopefully I will feel better soon.

Since there was no sewing, I have been knitting a lot. I'm still working on the Bestway 1491 cardigan and the end is coming near! While knitting I've been watching tv shows like Firefly and Downton Abbey. They are both great series!

I also started drafting two skirts for sewing class. The skirt on the left is from the Lutterloh 1941 book. The other skirt I found on Pinterest and is originally part of a 1940s Marie Claire magazine. The skirts are now drafted on 1:5 scale. Later on I will rescale the patterns and sew them up.

  1. Ohhh honey, I'm so sorry you've had to endure having your wisdom teeth removed. My husband has one pulled so far and needs to have the others out (probably in the coming year). My own jaw is very small and my teeth unpleasantly crowded, so for better or worse, my wisdom teeth have never "dropped".

Those two skirts are wonderful! I especially love the one with the pleated segment down the front. It's unique and really beautiful!

Sending tons of healing hugs & well wishes your way,
    ♥ Jessica

    1. Thank you Jessica! I hope your husband has more luck!

I also like the fuller skirt with the pleated segment! It caught my eye immediately when I saw it for the first time.

  2. Ah, tooth pain is the worst kind :( I hope you feel better soon!
I love the Lutterloh-skirt, I hope you share with us the progress :)
Are you joining the Knit for Victory this winter? I bought my yarn today, it is nice to have a craft I can bring with me to work ;)

    1. I'm not sure when I'm going to sew it, but I can show a bit of the drafting progress :)

I'm not sure if I'm going to join. I want to but I'm not sure I have enough time. I want my cardigan finished first and then I have to crochet a christmas gift, after that I could join. I already have a pattern in mind, so hopefully I will make it timewise!

In juni doen we examen :)

  4. I love both of those series for TV. Too bad they have so few episodes! I have been very busy and sewing very little too lately. Hopefully that can change soon!

    1. I read that Firefly only lasted for one season, too bad :( I really like it so far!

I'm eager to sew again too! But feeling so drowsy and having that awful pain sewing is not really an option at the moment. I hope you find time soon to start sewing again!

Also, both of those skirts look great. I can't wait to see them finished up.

    1. Thanks Megan! It's a pity there's only one season of Firefly, I really like it so far!

I'm not sure when I'm going to sew the skirts, but I really want to make them some time!

  6. I hope you feel better soon! I know how painful having your wisdom teeth removed can be. Hope you have a fast recovery. Your skirts look amazing. It is so nice that you are able to draft patterns and have a teacher to bounce ideas off of. I would love to have this easily accessible to me. What material will you construct your skirts with? Wonderful illustrations:)

    1. Thanks! Luckily now all my wisdom teeth are removed :) I'm very happy with my teacher, she is of great help! I want to use wool fabric for the skirt on the left. For the other skirt I have to get advice from my teacher because of the pleats.

  9. Ow! I remember when I had a wisdom tooth surgically extracted a few years ago, it was the first and only time I'd have to call in sick from work due to tooth ache! As the darn thing wasn't really doing any harm BEFORE they removed it I had dark thoughts about dentists and their appearingly random deciscions =) Glad to hear it was your last one!

The skirts look lovely! The left looks very everyday wearable, and the right one has so many interesting details. The pleats and the angled yoke looks like great fun to draft =)

Your two skirts are crazy cute!!! Can't wait to see them all made!

    1. Yes, I'm feeling finally better! I just love them both! Storywise Firefly is more interesting, but I just love the characters and costumes of Downton Abbey :)
