50s Summer Dresses: What to choose?

Hello!

I need your help! I'm planning on making a 50s summer dress but I can't decide which one to make. Hopefully you can help me out by telling me which one your favourite is?

Here they are:

1. Alice In Wonderland

2. Butterfly Dress

3. Button Down Dress With Stripes

4. Ultimate 50s Summer Dress (I have the pattern below but want to make a neckline as you can see at the pattern above.

5. Circle Skirt with Bustiere (I'm opting for View A)

What are your summer sewing plans?
I would love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks in advance!!

  1. They're all so pretty! I like the striped button down and the circle skirt ones best, although that butterfly fabric is gorgeous.

    1. The fabric is from equilter.com but I have it in my stash for quite some years now. Don't know if it's still available.

  4. As one who was a teenager in the 50s, I would say the butterfly dress is most typical of the era .Most of the dresses displayed on the others were more model class, not ordinary girls and ladies.
As you are beautifully slender, the gathering on the bodice would look good.

    1. Thank you for sharing your experience! The dress is my second choice. So hopefully I have enough time this summer to make this one as well!

  5. View 3 with the stripes looks truly interesting and I would love to see your interpretation of it. My summer sewing plans include strips and I always enjoy seeing others work. Option 5 looks just as interesting as well with the mix of a floral and dot print. Goodness, so hard to choose. Best of luck and can't wait to see your results!

  6. Ooo, that's a difficult decision. I vote for 4, because I love the stripes, the design detail on bodice and the collar. Good luck with whatever one you make.

  8. It's funny you know, I love them all and am such a bold and/or novelty print person, but lately I've been feeling stripes big time, so I'm voting for #3 - it just seems to wildly chic!
